In great thanks, students who offer this support are allowed to register, which provides access to the following added-value learning resources:
• Chapter Summaries
Detailed two-page summaries for each chapter of the textbook (34 pages total) are available to registered students through this website. Written by the author himself, these summaries work for both the 4th and 5th editions. A perfect, perfect, perfect tool for reading just before taking an exam, which is why they are so popular. Click here for a sample.
• Practice Page Worksheets
Crafty, minds-on, pencil-pushing, concept review activities designed to keep you engaged in learning chemistry. They are presented here as line-art pdf documents that registered students may download and print. Click here for a sample worksheet.
• Chapter Reading Quizzes
These are multiple choice quizzes derived from the "reading check questions" appearing in the margins of the textbook. These questions are designed to help guide you in your reading and to make sure you are familiar with the main points of the chapter. For registered students only, there are quizzes for all 17 chapters, 10 questions each: 170 questions total. Results can be sent to your instructor as evidence that you were in fact studying! A great resource for preparing for your exams. Good for both the 4th and 5th editions.
• Higher Resolution Video Lessons
The full set of >200 Conceptual Chemistry Alive! video lessons have recently been re-compressed from the original footage to provide video lessons at 4x the screen resolution while maintaining similar bandwidth. These higher resolution videos are available only to registered students. As an added plus, these videos are organized by the textbook chapter section to which they correspond.
• Answers to Video Check Questions
Each CCAlive! video lesson comes with a set of three video check questions that highlight the main concepts of the lesson. The author's carefully thought out answers, which will help to reinforce learning, are now available to registered students.
• Beta Testing
With your support, we are in the process of creating a major upgrade to this website. Over the Spring 2013 semester we'll be beta testing various modules, most notably a social networking module that will allow students to work together in study groups. All registered students will have access to these new modules as they come online.
The summaries, worksheets, and practice quizzes are available through the tabs of the "Study Resources" sidebar seen to the right. To provide a sampling, links to the Chapter 1 and 2 worksheets and quizzes are active for all users. Links to all other chapters will become active once you log in as a registered student.
