Welcome to Conceptual Chemistry Alive!

Conceptual Chemistry Alive! is the author-created website supporting Conceptual Chemistry, a textbook that focuses on the basic concepts of chemistry and how these concepts apply to our daily experiences.

Conceptual Chemistry Alive! features over 200 video lesson tutorials given by the author, John Suchocki. These video lessons are a "talking textbook." They are an excellent resource for students who, in addition to reading the textbook, need to see and hear the concepts in action. Each video lesson averages only 7 minutes in length. For some videos, it may seem the author moves through the curriculum rather slowly. For others, you may be compelled to hit the rewind button repeatedly. Please skip and meander through these videos as you see fit so as to optimize your learning.

Also featured on Conceptual Chemistry Alive! are numerous worksheets, called Practice Pages, which are minds-on, pencil-pushing activities designed to guide you through some of the tougher concepts presented in the textbook. The Practice Pages are formated as .pdf files that you may freely download and print.

The CCAlive! Special Topics are a compilation of articles that highlight real-world applications of the concepts of chemistry.  These articles are an extension of the "Contextual Chemistry Spotlight Essays" appearing between each chapter of the textbook. This in-progress feature of ConceptualChemistry.com is created primarily by students who write the articles as a special assignment.

Students are encouraged to explore the many EXTRAs also available through this website. This includes author-generated answers to the Practice Pages, RATs and Discusssion Questions.

The Conceptual Chemistry curriculum is becoming increasingly popular with home schools seeking college-prep chemistry. For this reason, we have developed a home school area of this website dedicated to answering questions or concerns regarding the use of Conceptual Chemistry within a home school environment.
